Getting Ready to Decorate for Fall Season

Today the weather was cool and the drop in temperature, along with gray skies put me in the mood for getting my home ready for fall decorating. So I made a pot pumpkin coffee latte then lit a pumpkin spice candle to create fall ambiance and to get motivated to decorate.

Before I could attempt to decorate, I needed to organize my summer accessories and home accents. I pulled them all and set them on my dining room table, and then I wrapped in plastic bubble wrap and packed everything in storage containers for the garage. It took me all day to do this prep work and when all containers were out of sight I realized that the next step would mean a top to bottom cleaning to remove the dirt and the dust.
I was exhausted so I asked my husband to help me and he said he would clean the rugs and ceiling fans for me. I was hoping he would say he would clean the baseboard but thought it best to stay quiet.
Cleaning the house with your spouse is a whole lot better than doing it by yourself. Once my husband starts cleaning he is like a machine. He may not have done the baseboards but he did go into the kitchen and washed the dishes, cleaned up the counter and mopped the floor. (He is my hero)
When all was said and done we both sat on the couch and admired our housework. The room looked fresh and very clean. We are both motivated to decorate for fall and Halloween. My husband said he would do the outdoors and I get to decorate the interior.
Tomorrow I will get out my fall storage containers to see what I have and make a list of what I need. I know I will do some shopping this year for leaf pattern table runnersthrowpillows and would like to pick up a fall pattern fleece blanket to toss over the backside of the sofa. Fall nights can be cool and the blanket will come in handy. I also would like to buy some paperplates and fall designed coffee mugs.
Well, I have a plan for tomorrow and think the day will be special because I will be doing autumn activities and crafts with my family. Do you decorate for the fall season?

Favorite Cat Throw Pillows

If you are a cat lover then the cat pillows from Zazzle will be to your liking. The pillows come in a variety of fabrics and are available for indoor or outdoor use. You can also choose a style with a zipper or one without. Throw pillows with a cat design will make your space feel more inviting. There is a cozy feeling when a sofa or side chair features a cat pillow.
A room I designed to show my customer how to decorate their living space with cat decor.

I designed a black cat pillow for my sunroom where the color theme is green with touches of black. The pillow that I bought had a black cat lying in a bed of clover. This cat pillow was complimentary to my space and it was well-received by my family,
I ordered the pillow with the zipper so I could wash it and I choose the polyester fabric. I set it on the sofa next to a solid color green pillow and no sooner than I set it down my husband grabbed it and put it behind his head. Since my husband was lying on the floor I tried to get him to use the other pillow, but he refused and told me that he liked the way the cat pillow felt. That it was not hard or scratchy feeling like the pillows I bought at the mall.
So there you have it an honest review from a man who likes the cat pillows from Zazzle. If you have not shopped at Zazzle.com then I would recommend that you do. They have daily sales where you can use a coupon code to get a discount. No product is ever full price. Plus the quality of the products is very good and the printing is superb.
Here are a few cat pillows that I found at Zazzle. If you would like to view the pillows at the store, click on the blue text underneath the pillow image and you will be rerouted to the designer store where the pillow is located.
All products at Zazzle are created by designers and these pillows are printed on demand. You will never find these pillows at the mall so if you want something unique and you desire to support a small business then shop for cat pillows at Zazzle.com.
This cat pillow was designed from a photograph of a rescued cat named Buddy. Buddy was abandoned when his people moved away. We were able to catch him after he was beaten up. Buddy is deaf, and has a head injury that left him with limited eyesight. He is a great little cat and we love him so much.

This is Lucy the feral cat that we have cared for since 2008.  She is one beautiful cat and this pillow would look stunning when used as an accent in a neutral color room. Would look nice with browns, beige and cream colors on other pillows and decor.

Fall Pattern Kitchen Tablecloths

One of the easiest ways to decorate your kitchen is to add a fall pattern tablecloth. Large and small tables will look very cozy with a fall leaf or other pattern tablecloth. The table will be your focal area then all you have to do is add some kitchen accents like coffee mugs, paper plates, napkins and kitchen towels. It does not take much to create a warm and cozy kitchen for the fall season.
Here is a table runner with a fall leaf pattern. Below see the tablecloths.
Orange Maple Leaves in Autumn Table Runner

Before you shop determine your fall color scheme. Many people like the color yellow and orange pattern with accents of dark brown, green or black. You can shop locally or online. Now if you want to match up a pillow or your window treatments you should take a photograph of the print then upload that photo at Zazzle.co

You can also shop the marketplace at Zazzle for a fall tablecloth or runner. All products that you view are created by artists and the designs are unique and will never be found at the mall.
Here are a few fall pattern tablecloths that I found at zazzle.com. Know that you can buy the tablecloth as shown or upload your photo and make your own.
Set your table with this cloth and add an autumn centerpiece and you will create an eye appealing autumn kitchen.

Light up Your Home with Lamp-In-a-Box

A few years ago Zazzle starting carrying Lamp-In-a-Box brand table, tripods and ceiling pendant lamps. These lamps all feature a designer created shade that is unique and never found at the mall. You can buy the lamp as shown with the designer shade or you can create your own lampshade by uploading your photographs or graphics.

Here is an autumn living space with a table lamp in the back by the tree. The shade has tree leaves and you can see that the compliments the decor.

Creating your own lamp from your photograph is a good way to match the wallpaper, drapes or other decoration in your home. All you have to do is take a photo and upload it to Zazzle to create your matching lamp.

A table lamp from Zazzle is a good way to light up a dark room or to coordinate a space. But you can also create a lamp for a special birthday, housewarming, new baby or bridal shower keepsake design.

Unlike the mall stores where you have to buy the base of the lamp as shown, Zazzle allows you to choose from two base colors, white or silver and you can also choose the fabric used on the shade. I bought the linen shade and loved the way the lampshade provided my space with soft light. The ambiance was very cozy.

Here are a few fabulous lamps that I designed at my Photo Gifts by Sgolis store at Zazzle.com You can buy as shown or create your own from your photographs.

St Patrick's Day Party Essentials

I grew up Irish-American which meant that we always celebrated St. Patrick's Day. My mother was first-generation Irish in America and my grandparents came from Cork. My mother held onto her Irish heritage and prepared many Irish recipes throughout the year and always celebrated St. Patrick's Day by going to mass to be blessed, followed by an Irish breakfast, tea in the afternoon, and the Irish-American corned beef and cabbage with all the sides in the evening.

Two St. Patrick's Day partygoers "wearing their green"

St. Patrick's Day was a day of cooking, joke-telling, dancing, and singing. A joyous time for wearing green

My mother never decorated the house with green streamers, shamrock stickers, or balloons. Instead, her decorations consisted of family photographs of her travels to her homeland and framed posters of Cork Ireland on the wall. The Irish party essentials were a green tablecloth, green classic paper plates, napkins, and mugs for Irish coffee.
Here are a few classic-styled St Patrick’s Day table-setting products and mugs.

The most important thing for a party is to have aprons to protect your clothes, table-setting essentials including a platter for your corned beef, and Irish music by the Clancy brothers.

Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a traditional Irish-American dinner? Do you wear green color clothing?

Royal Blue and Gold Christmas Decor

Make a statement this year and decorate your Christmas tree and home with a royal blue and gold color scheme. The blue color represents the night sky and gold snowflake represents elegance.

Recently a customer contacted me and requested a royal blue and gold snowflake print on a round accent pillow, table runner, and ornament. She wanted a few accessories to accent her royal blue with gold living space where she had her Christmas tree.

I created the blue and gold home accessories from a public domain photograph of a gold textured snowflake pin (jewelry). I layered the gold snowflake over the royal blue background. An additional layer was added to create white glitter. The white glitter represents the snow.

The royal blue and gold snowflake pattern home decor is popular this year and thought it would be good to create a home set to show my customers and followers on this blog how the home accessories compliment a blue color scheme Christmas space. I think the home set with blue and gold accents is beautiful. What do you think? Will you be decorating your home this year with a blue color scheme?

If you like what you see you can click the link below the image to view all at my zazzle store.
